The BGAMUG Auction was fun! And now it's Officer Time and more.

Hi everyone! This is Betsy again, with an update on our Auction Meeting this past Tuesday.

It went great! We had lots of laughs too, which I liked most of all. We sold nice notebook computers, printers, jewelry, a pretty glass plate, stationery, a mouse, and lots more, for great prices.

Our next BGAMUG meeting is on Tuesday, October 22nd at 6:30 at the BGTC Building F.

The meeting room is down from our old meeting room, to the right. (see the map below).

Do you want to be a BGAMUG officer next year? You can. Most of the positions are open.

I am not running again for Webmaster, because I was going to do it for only one year, and have been doing it longer.

So if you like blogging and/or doing web pages, we need you!

We also need other officers to spell the ones who have been working hard month by month.

I am in other groups, too, (like many members) and also have a LOT to do to catch up on work here at my Home Office.

But luckily, other officers have volunteered to do this job for awhile, which is good. It helps the Club a lot, and you get to make decisions that help everyone.

There are other officer slots available too. So be thinking of which job you would like best.

If you would like to volunteer to help the club, contact Jerry G. He will be glad to hear from you. His web address is on the Newsletter, which you can download here.

Here are the Officer positions:

President
Vice President of Protocol
Secretary
Vice President of Membership
Treasurer
Vice President of Technology
Historian
Newsletter Editor
Webmaster
Program Director
Sergeant at Arms
and Officer at Large (2)

BGAMUG September Auction Meeting September 24 2013 UPDATED

Get ready to have fun at our Auction meeting on Tuesday, September 24th.

UPDATED - this posting includes a map and meeting instructions.

Last year's auction was so fun. I got some great deals. Our members Paula and Jerry are going to be helping, plus more members.

If you can help, contact Jerry.

Here is the latest news from Jerry G.

"We are pleased to announce our September meeting will be in the BGTC Building F. (Same as last month.)"

"If you are bringing items for the auction, we will be there about 5 PM.

There will be no Genealogy SIG meeting this month."

Last year we had lots of neat items at the auction. This year we have computer items, a Garmin GPS with accessories, a wireless MP3 headset, a photo printer and a Kindle!

Also from Jerry:

"...members are asked to bring items to the meeting to be auctioned off as a
BGAMUG Fund Raiser. The items do not have to be computer related, but should be in good functional condition. Items that do not sell will be returned to the member donating them..."

Our August meeting was fun. I learned a lot about Computer Shortcuts.

There were some fun tips at the latest BGAMUG Meeting.
YourKeys Font

I learned how to (much more quickly) access special characters and save time doing work with them. One character I want to use on Facebook is a heart. <3 br="">

There was another group at our (new) meeting place. So we moved back to our OLD building (F) and moved to the right, to a new, bigger room. It is on the same side of the building as our old room, just go to the right all the way down the sidewalk.

Next time, we may be there again. I will post here when I and they find out.

We got some good handouts too. The most fun for me was talking about fonts.

Our Next meeting is our fun Auction, Tuesday, Sept. 24th. Bring quality computer items, good printers, other computer stuff PLUS other useful quality items in good condition to sell for the Club.

The Genealogy SIG (Special Interest Group) was also very interesting. I think I'm learning by osmosis here, and hope to be able to do great things later on with it.

Guests are always welcome at BGAMUG meetings.

Message from Jerry - August 2013 meeting is in Building G, more.

Hi all!

This is Betsy, taking Jerry's message to post on the site for everyone. Our next meeting (August) is on Tuesday, August 27th.

We will be meeting at Building G, Room 119, at the Bowling Green Technical College, Main Campus.

There will be helpful signs and also parking assistance available that day.

Here is the map for this meeting.

Bring a guest! This month's presentation will be about "Keyboarding 1001" by Jerry Gillette. Here is his description:

"During this month’s presentation, we will cover all the keys on the keyboard, even the mysterious ones you have never used. In addition we will cover some speedy and more productive time saving tasks you can accomplish in document creation and navigating the PC screen by using the keyboard more and the mouse less.
To top things off I’ll show you how to insert characters into your emails and documents that
do not appear on the keyboard, like; ¢ ™ ® ° © » ± ……"

So be there or be be unaware! Guests are most welcome.
