Hi, all!
I hope you had a GREAT New Year and Holiday.
I hope to post regularly here (some weeks more regularly than others!) about learning how to be a President and run meetings in proper fashion, news, ideas, and more.
Last night the EBoard, plus 3 other Members from the club, met and had dinner at Steamer Seafood. I hope they liked their meal! I had Fish Tacos. I have only been there for lunch a couple of times with Rickey, and he had a noodle dish he really liked.
Anyway, Jerry Gillette and Paula were there, as well as Karen Wickliff. (Members...) Officers there were me (Betsy), Jeri, John, and Aiko. C.G. is working as an Officer from home.
Much was discussed. I have the long version of notes to type up, and an EBoard Meeting Report too.
++++++++++++++++++++
Google Apps! I got an email today (again) that our VP of Technology and Webmaster, John, sent out. I will hopefully be able to sign up for this soon, using his instructions. Included at this link will be new Google Apps.
All members will be able to access these FREE apps soon. Look for your password in your email. It is another
benefit to being a Member of the BGAMUG Computer Club. John will be able
to explain more about it at our next meeting.

Learning at the E-Board Meeting
I learned how to keep saying "Do I hear a motion to...?" as President at our E-Board Meeting yesterday. I will be able to use this new skill at meetings too. It is a Learning Curve for me. Jeri Steele is doing a great job with advice and help I will keep doing my best, and writing notes too.

Our NEW Website update and more
Check out our NEW website here: http://www.bgamug.org/
John Walker is updating the site and will have more there this week - including this blog.
He also has articles at the Latest Update link at the right side, at the website.
Our Next Meeting
OUR NEXT BGAMUG MEETING is Tuesday, January 24th at 6:30 at Hillview Heights. It is another "Eatin' Meetin'."
You can bring your own drink - OR have a club-provided drink that will be there too, along with plenty of Pizza. Bring an appetite!
YES, THERE WILL BE PIZZA!
The Program will be Favorite Windows OS Utilities, a neat Learning Video from interesting online speaker, Judy Taylour.
SEE YOU THERE! And bring a friend! Have an idea or even a complaint (we'll try VERY hard to fix whatever it is...) ? That's OK. Let Aiko Gunderson know and she will share with us. She's our Member at Large.
Stay tuned for even more news and Club developments.
More later!
Betsy

Do you eat or drink in front of your computer?
I was just wondering. I sometimes do have a snack by my computer. I have to be careful though.
And sometimes I like to have a drink there too.
I no longer put the drink within elbow reach or an accidental spill, though now I have a nice plastic keyboard protector on my keyboard, just in case.
Here is the picture that helped me decide the topic for this posting. I can imagine something spilling from this plate!
The description for this photo reads: Grilled halibut with green chili sauce on computer table. Mmmmmm good. But that coke looks so dangerous.
Have you ever spilled on your computer table or (horrors!) on the keyboard? Leave a comment if you have and are brave enough to talk about it.

See you at the next BGAMUG Computer Club meeting, which is on August 28th at 6:30 p.m. Find out more here at the BGAMUG website.

BGAMUG Newsletters - fun and educational, easy to download too.
Have you tried reading an issue of BGAMUG News?
The newsletters have fun articles in them, plus some great computer tips too.
The older BGAMUG Newsletters have good information in them, and BGAMUG has a Newsletter Archive page where people can download the newsletters, print them out, read them online, or use the PDF in an E-book reader.
Anyone can download them with no problems.
If they will not open on your computer, simply go to the free download page at the Microsoft site here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Here is the Archives link with many past issues of the Newsletter on it:

Do YOU want to be an officer?
Are you interested?
We will find out soon which posts are open. Do YOU want to be an officer for the BGAMUG Computer club?
What is being an officer like? Well, you get to share ideas, help make decisions, and get ready for meetings. You can help with events, or write newsletter articles. You can listen to other members and make suggestions for them.
There are a lot of different things you can pick from. It's fun, you get to hang out with pretty neat people, and you are doing a good deed, helping people and making their lives better.
Find out more at the next BGAMUG meeting which is on Tuesday, August 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at the Bowling Green Technical College. Find a map here (scroll down). Visitors are welcome!

A few fun computer jokes
I was updating some blogs today and thought I would put some funny jokes and sayings here.
Here are some cute jokes that I got from the http://computer.cleanwebjokes.com/ site today. They are from their Bumper Sticker page.
I have just picked three of them. You can read more at their Bumper Sticker page.
"1. BREAKFAST.COM Halted...Cereal Port Not Responding
5. Access denied--nah nah na nah nah!
26. Error reading FAT record: Try the SKINNY one? (Y/N)
29. Backup not found: (A)bort (R)etry (P)anic"
I love these! Add your favorite in the comments section right after this posting.
