Amy Bingham, "Preparing a Story"

Amy Bingham at Nov. Meeting

Our guest speaker this month was Amy Bingham the Broadcast Coordinator of WKU University. She shared with us the process she uses to prepare a story for her weekly show, View from the Hill. She also used to be an Anchor and Producer at WBKO.
All of us have stories. Taking your old photos and editing them with your favorite music or audio of a family story is something everyone can do. Microsoft has Movie Maker delivered in every installation. Amy talked about using Final Cut Pro which is professional platform and costly. Jerry Gillette gave a program before on using Movie Maker. Amy shared that they shoot lots of footage that get edited into 30-45 second sound bites. She then uses most of the material from the part cut out to weave the story between the sound bites. Bring your videos to share at a future meeting.

The club furnishes the Turkey and Ham, drinks and tableware. Arrive between 4-6 pm if you can help with the setup.

We will also have a gift exchange. Bring a gift of suggested value $10-$20. Do not put who the gift was from just label the gift as "Man", "Women", or "Both". You don't have to spend $, it's perfectly acceptable to re-gift something that you received in that price range.

Shout out to some good cooks at the BGAMUG Picnic.

The BGAMUG Picnic was really nice.

The food was great as usual. I have to give a shout out to the Peach dessert, also the Chess Pie, and the BBQ sauce was good too. Something with a crunchy crust (potatoes?) were really good too. Everything was good. There was plenty of room to sit.

We met at Covington Woods Park. The golfers were out in force. We barely got a parking space, but we were lucky and got one.

Jerry told us one of our original people the club donated a computer to has passed away. Everyone except some people who had to leave early played some Bingo after the meal.

People brought electric fans and that helped a lot, because it was HOT on Saturday.

Anyone have some photos? I'd love to see them. I got to talk with a few people, that was fun too.

BGAMUG Votes to Meet at Home Instead Senior Care Training

Past President Jerry Gillette put it this way, "Never before in the history of BGAMUG has the membership been able to vote on a meeting location."

With two potential meeting places, the club met in April at the Hillvue Heights Church and in May at Home Instead Training Center. The majority of the members have voted to hold meetings at Home Instead. From Campbell lane turn on Gary Farms Rd toward the Greenwood Mall. Go past the bank and in the first building on the left is Home Instead's training facility.  If you go as far David's bridal go have gone too far.

Please join us at the next meeting on June 24th at 6:30 PM.

Tuesday night's program is by Jeri Steele on Making Windows 8 behave (like Windows 7). As more and more people buy new computers they will be getting them with Windows 8.  The new Operating System is already on version 8.1 and is in my experience been very stable.  But the interface was designed more for touch screen so it's no obvious what to do to get other programs installed, etc. Come see one way to survive at Windows 8.
